The Myth of the Workplace

If i was a foreigner that watched American television, like we know all foreigners do, I would imagine that every American works in a cubicle in a deplorable building surrounded by equally upset and disillusioned workers, whose tasks are nothing more than menial labor without the reward of physical activity.
But fortunately this dismal life would be livable for them because of the witty hijinks that quriky coworkers played on each other, friendly banter between workspace rivals, karmic justice that alwasy gets the immoral and unlikable folks, and of course always the wonderful prospect of workspace love.
The american version of the Office makes light of the horrid situation men and women are forced into on a daily basis. Their jobs are pitfalls that unsuspectign college graduates get lured into due to their delusional vision of a exciting, productive, mature world in an office within some trendy metropolis.

This doesn't happen. Even Office Space is guilty of proliferating this illusion.  They portray their movie as a satire of the office lifestyle, yet in fact it is reality.  The people and activites are that bland and mundane, and no good can come from such an unpleasant atmospher.  therefore if i was a foreigner i would watch these shows and moveis and not laugh at their attempted lighthearted comedy, nor cry for the tragedy they veil, but enjoy the smug contentment of realizing the "free" americans ironic plight

even the hip, cool and young employees of facebook are subjected to torture

if i worked in a cubicle id def be hypeming and bating all day
